discovering the nature Umbrian...
Entertainment natural
A visit to the Marmore Waterfalls is a definite must for anyone who wants to experience the natural beauty of Umbria. These important water works were constructed by the Romans in order to provide a source of water for the surrounding Umbrian land. A source of energy, and the wealth that resulted, allowed the development of industries in the area and, eventually, international tourism. This place has inspired poets and artists of every era, from Virgil to Byron. The waterfalls can be viewed only during opening hours.

Directions
In around an hour, leaving from San Luca, where our hotel is located, you can enjoy two of the most beautiful natural areas in the Umbria Region.

The Clitumnus Springs are about 10 minutes from the hotel by car, near Campello along the Flaminia road going towards Spoleto. The river itself was sacred to the ancient pagans and over the centuries has been celebrated by poets such as Virgil, Byron and Carducci. The small lake which forms at the springs is crystal clear and reflects the poplars and weeping willows that surround it. The silence which the springs instil makes it a small oasis with a delicate and rarefied atmosphere. A bit further on in the same direction, near Pissignano, there is a beautiful fifth century Christian temple, Il Tempietto, that contains ancient frescoes. The Marmore Waterfalls, the highest in Europe, are about 45 minutes from the Clitumnus Springs along the SS3. Leaving the Springs, proceeding initially in a northerly direction, follow signs to the SS3. Once on the SS3 head south, past Spoleto towards Terni. After about 10 Km turn left onto the SP4 in the direction of Arrone / Rieti and follow signs for Marmore.
